What Is on Deck 6 of Icon of the Seas?

Deck 6 on Icon of the Seas is the upper level of the Royal Promenade, the ship’s indoor main street. The front half holds Pearl Cafe beside The Pearl, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, and a run of lounges: Dueling Pianos, Boleros, Schooner Bar and The Attic comedy club. The back half is where the kids go, with the Adventure Ocean kids’ club, the Social020 teen lounge, Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade and the entrance to the Absolute Zero ice arena.

There are no staterooms on Deck 6. It’s a deck you spend your evenings on, and for families with kids ages 3 to 12, it’s the deck you’ll walk to every day. Deck 6 is one of 18 decks in our Icon of the Seas deck plans guide.

Read the Deck 6 plan from front to back. The forward end holds the upper level of the Fitness Center on one side, with an escape room and the Crown Lounge beside the forward elevators.

Past the elevators, the Royal Promenade runs down the middle of the deck. The Attic and Dueling Pianos come first, then Pearl Cafe wraps around The Pearl, with Giovanni’s across the way. Boleros and Schooner Bar sit near the back of the Promenade, with shops on both sides by the aft elevators.

Behind the aft elevators, the deck turns into the family zone. Adventure Ocean runs down one side, with a staircase beside its entrance that climbs straight up to Surfside on Deck 7. Playmakers is on the other side, the entrance to Absolute Zero sits in the middle, and Social020 stretches across the back of the deck.

What You’ll Find on Deck 6

Deck 6 has two personalities. The front is for grown-up evenings, and the back is built around the kids.

The Royal Promenade (Forward and Midship)

  • The Pearl: the giant sculpture that rises from Deck 5 to Deck 8. A staircase inside it climbs from the Promenade on Deck 5 up to Deck 6.
  • Pearl Cafe: sandwiches, salads and pastries, included in your fare and open 24 hours. Specialty coffee costs extra.
  • Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar: Italian specialty dining. Extra cost.
  • Dueling Pianos: Royal Caribbean’s first dueling piano bar, with two pianists taking requests.
  • Boleros: a Latin bar with a live band.
  • Schooner Bar: a nautical-themed piano bar.
  • The Attic: the comedy club. Its comedy shows are for adults only.
  • Crown Lounge: for Crown & Anchor Society Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacle Club members.

The Family Zone (Aft)

  • Adventure Ocean: the kids’ club for ages 3 to 12, included in your fare until 10 p.m. Late-night sessions after that carry an hourly fee.
  • Social020: a hangout just for teens 13 to 17, with video games, music and movies. No parents allowed.
  • Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade: big screens, wings and burgers, plus arcade games. The food is a la carte, and some games cost extra.
  • Absolute Zero: the entrance to Icon’s ice arena is on Deck 6, and the rink sits below. Ice shows and open skating are included.

Favorite Grampy
Favorite Grampy’s Insider Tip Adventure Ocean is a grandparent’s best friend on Icon. Drop the grandkids off for an hour, and you’re steps from Pearl Cafe for a coffee, or from Dueling Pianos once the evening starts. The staircase beside the club takes everyone straight up to Surfside when it’s time to swim.

Cabins Near Deck 6: What to Know Before You Book

Deck 6 has no staterooms, but the cabins on Deck 7 sit right above it. That matters most at the back of the ship, where Deck 6 holds the kids’ club and the sports bar.

Guest reviews list the Deck 7 rooms from 7280 to 7346 and from 7680 to 7746 as ones to think about. They line Surfside, and they also sit above Adventure Ocean and Playmakers, two lively spaces, so they can be busy day and night.

For a family with young kids, that can be a plus. The kids’ club is one flight down and the splash pad is right outside. If anyone in your group goes to bed early, we’d look at the stateroom-only decks above, and check what sits under any Deck 7 room before you book, since the Promenade lounges run late too.

Which Part of Deck 6 Fits Your Family?

Here’s how we think about it for families:

  • Kids 3 to 12: Adventure Ocean at the back, with Surfside one staircase up.
  • Teens: Social020, their own space, plus Playmakers next door for game night.
  • A late-night snack: Pearl Cafe, included in your fare and open around the clock.
  • A grown-up evening: dinner at Giovanni’s, then Dueling Pianos or a comedy show at The Attic.
Favorite Grampy
Favorite Grampy’s Insider Tip If you want the ice show at Absolute Zero, reserve your seats in the Royal app or the Cruise Planner before you sail. Shows are included in your fare, but the family favorites fill up. We add show times to every Icon family’s plan so nobody is standing at the door hoping for a seat.

Is Deck 6 a Good Deck for Families?

Yes, Deck 6 is one of the most important decks on Icon of the Seas for families, because the kids’ club, the teen lounge and a 24-hour cafe included in your fare are all on it. You won’t sleep on Deck 6, but with kids ages 3 to 12, you’ll probably pass through it every day.

Frequently Asked Questions About Icon of the Seas Deck 6

What is on Deck 6 of Icon of the Seas?

Deck 6 on Icon of the Seas is the upper level of the Royal Promenade, with no staterooms. The front holds Pearl Cafe, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, Dueling Pianos, Boleros, Schooner Bar and The Attic comedy club. The back holds Adventure Ocean for kids 3 to 12, Social020 for teens 13 to 17, Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade and the entrance to Absolute Zero. What that means for your family: the kids’ clubs and a 24-hour cafe are on the same deck, so drop-offs and snack runs are short walks.

What deck is Adventure Ocean on Icon of the Seas?

Adventure Ocean is on Deck 6 of Icon of the Seas, at the back of the ship, with a staircase beside its entrance that leads up to Surfside on Deck 7. It’s the kids’ club for ages 3 to 12, and it’s included in your fare until 10 p.m. Late-night sessions after that carry an hourly fee, and the nursery for babies 6 to 36 months costs extra. The simple test I use: if the kids will split their days between the club and the splash pad, a room near the back of Deck 7 keeps every walk short.

What deck is The Pearl on Icon of the Seas?

The Pearl rises from Deck 5 to Deck 8 of Icon of the Seas, in the middle of the Royal Promenade. On Deck 6 it’s wrapped by Pearl Cafe, which serves sandwiches, salads and pastries 24 hours a day, included in your fare. A staircase inside The Pearl links the Promenade on Deck 5 with Deck 6. In fact, it’s one of the easiest landmarks on the ship. When the grandkids get turned around, “meet us at The Pearl” works on several decks.

Where do teens hang out on Icon of the Seas?

Teens 13 to 17 on Icon of the Seas have Social020, a teens-only lounge at the back of Deck 6 with video games, music and movies. Parents can’t go in, which is exactly why teens like it, and it’s included in your fare. Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade is right next door for games and wings, and the waterslides on Deck 16 are an elevator ride away. Here’s what I tell families with teens: let them find their crew on the first night, and the rest of the week tends to take care of itself.

What deck is Absolute Zero on Icon of the Seas?

The entrance to Absolute Zero, the ice arena on Icon of the Seas, is on Deck 6 at the back of the ship, and the rink itself sits below. Royal Caribbean bills it as the largest ice arena at sea. Ice shows and open skating are both included in your fare, including the family-friendly show “Once Upon a Time: The King’s Royal Ball.” The truth is, these shows fill up. Reserve seats in the Royal app or the Cruise Planner before you sail, and bring socks and long pants if the grandkids want to skate.

Which Deck 6 venues cost extra on Icon of the Seas?

On Icon of the Seas Deck 6, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar and the escape room cost extra, Playmakers food is priced a la carte, and some arcade games cost extra. Pearl Cafe, Adventure Ocean until 10 p.m., Social020 and the comedy and piano lounges are included, though drinks at the bars cost extra. In other words, a family can spend a full evening on Deck 6 and only pay for what they order. We help families decide which one or two extras are worth it before they sail.
