How Does the Favorite Grampy Travels Crowd Calendar Work?

This calendar blends two things: real historical wait-time data and a seasonal model built around how families actually travel. The historical layer comes from posted wait times recorded throughout each operating day at both Disneyland Resort parks, going back years. The seasonal layer accounts for Southern California school calendars, holidays, spring break patterns, Halloween Time and Oogie Boogie Bash, the holiday season, and the Lunar New Year and Food & Wine festivals at Disney California Adventure.
Every day lands on a simple 1 to 10 scale. A 1 means the lightest lines this resort ever sees; a 10 means the busiest. One Disneyland-specific note: this is a locals’ resort, and in our own wait-time history the day of the week moved crowds by about one level, so the season and the holidays are where the big swings live. The data refreshes monthly, so predictions keep getting smarter as new wait-time history rolls in.
Fair warning from Favorite Grampy: no crowd calendar on earth is perfect. Weather, surprise events, and ride breakdowns move crowds in ways nobody can predict months out. Use the calendar to pick your dates, then plan your park days like a pro. That second part is where we come in.

When Is Disneyland Least Crowded?

Disneyland is least crowded from mid-September through early October (outside Halloween Time weekends), mid-January through early February, early November, and the first two weeks of December. The week you pick matters far more than the day. In our own 13 months of posted wait-time history (August 2025 through August 2026, holiday weeks set aside), Disneyland Park was lightest on Sundays and heaviest on Mondays and Tuesdays, while Disney California Adventure was heaviest on Saturdays and lightest on Fridays. Either way, the whole week spanned only one to two crowd levels, while the swing from a quiet September week to Easter week ran three levels or more at both parks.

Sunday4.06.5

Average crowd level, 1 to 10, from 13 months of posted wait-time history at each park (August 2025 through August 2026), holiday weeks excluded. Disneyland is a locals’ park and weekday effects are modest: the day of the week moves the score by about one level, and the season moves it by three or more.

How This Forecast Is Built

The scores on this page start with posted wait-time history from Queue-Times.com, 13 months of it for each park, blended with a seasonal model of holidays, school breaks, and resort events such as Halloween Time and the Disney California Adventure festivals. Each score predicts relative wait-time intensity on a 1 to 10 scale, not attendance: a 3 means lighter lines than a typical day, not a head count. A score of 0 means the park is closed that day. The feed refreshes on the first of each month, and the month-by-month sections above are rebuilt from it automatically.

Disneyland Crowd Calendar FAQ

The least crowded time to visit Disneyland is mid-September through early October, when crowd levels typically run 4 to 5 out of 10. Mid-January through early February, early November, and the first two weeks of December are nearly as quiet. The simple test I tell families: if Southern California schools are in session and there is no holiday within a week, you picked well. Pick the week first: in our own wait-time history the day of the week moves Disneyland crowds by about one level, while the season and the holidays move them by three or more.
The busiest times at Disneyland are Christmas through New Year’s Day, spring break from mid-March through Easter, and Thanksgiving week, when crowd levels reach 9 to 10 and Disneyland Park can approach capacity. Presidents week and October’s Halloween Time weekends run close behind. One surprise from our own 13 months of wait-time history: the week of July 4th ran light at both parks in 2026, about 3 to 4 out of 10, so summer heat thins the lines more than most families expect. Peak weeks can still make wonderful memories, but families need a different playbook: rope drop the headliners, use Lightning Lane on the right rides, and build a day-by-day plan. My advisors at Favorite Grampy Travels do exactly that for peak-week trips.
Less than most crowd calendars claim. In our own 13 months of posted wait-time history (August 2025 through August 2026, holiday weeks set aside), Disneyland Park was lightest on Sundays and heaviest on Mondays and Tuesdays, with the whole week spanning about a level and a half. Disney California Adventure ran heaviest on Saturdays and lightest on Fridays, a spread of about one level. Disneyland is a locals’ park, and its weekday effects are modest, so pick the week first and the day second. The season and the holidays move crowds far more than the day of the week.
Disneyland Park usually runs about 1 crowd level higher than Disney California Adventure because it has more headliner rides and the castle. The gap closes when DCA hosts its festivals: the Lunar New Year celebration in late January and February and the Food & Wine Festival in spring pull locals into DCA, and Oogie Boogie Bash nights in the fall close DCA early and push evening crowds into Disneyland Park. A good touring plan starts each day in the park with the lower level.
A crowd calendar is a planning guide, not a guarantee; well-built calendars land within 1 to 2 levels of actual crowds on most days. Weather, ride breakdowns, special events, and ticketed party nights shift crowds in ways no model can see months ahead. This is where the real value shows up: the calendar picks your dates, and a smart touring plan protects your day no matter what the parks bring. That combination, dates plus a plan, is what our advisors put together for every Disney family we work with.
Halloween Time, which runs from late August through October 31, is one of Disneyland’s most popular seasons and packs the weekends, especially the last two weeks of October. Oogie Boogie Bash, the separately ticketed party at Disney California Adventure, sells out nearly every night; on party nights DCA closes early to regular guests, which squeezes the daytime hours and pushes evening crowds into Disneyland Park. If your family is not doing the party, plan DCA for a non-party day and enjoy Disneyland Park that evening.
