Where Deck 5 sits on the ship.

Read the Deck 5 plan from front to back. The Fitness Center fills the bow, and the Royal Theater sits just behind it, ahead of the forward elevators. The outdoor Running Track circles the whole deck, running past the lifeboats on both sides and around the back of the ship.

Past the forward elevators, the Royal Promenade begins. Shops, Sorrento’s and The Pearl line one side, with Guest Services farther back. Spotlight Karaoke and Starbucks are on the other side, then the escalator down to Decks 4 and 2, the boarding area with the 1400 Lobby Bar, and Point & Feather. The Crown & Anchor Society and Next Cruise desks sit near the aft elevators.

Behind the aft elevators is the top level of the main Dining Room. Absolute Zero fills the very back of the deck, with arena seating wrapped around the rink.

What You’ll Find on Deck 5

The Royal Promenade

  • The Pearl: the giant sculpture starts here and rises to Deck 8. A staircase inside it climbs to Pearl Cafe on Deck 6.
  • Sorrento’s: pizza by the slice, included in your fare. Beer costs extra. It stays open late into the night; check the Royal app for hours.
  • Starbucks: extra cost. Royal Caribbean says its drink packages don’t cover Starbucks.
  • 1400 Lobby Bar: the cocktail bar where you step aboard, with seats inside and on an outdoor terrace by the ocean. Drinks cost extra.
  • Point & Feather: an English pub with darts and live guitar music. Drinks cost extra.
  • Spotlight Karaoke: the karaoke bar, included in your fare. Private karaoke rooms can be reserved for a fee.
  • Guest Services and the loyalty desks: Guest Services, the Crown & Anchor Society desk and the Next Cruise desk are all here.

  • Absolute Zero: the rink and its seating are on Deck 5, and you walk in from the entrance on Deck 6. Ice shows and open skating are included.
  • Dining Room: the main dining room spans Decks 3, 4 and 5, and Deck 5 is its top level. Included in your fare.

Favorite Grampy
Favorite Grampy’s Insider Tip Most families step aboard Icon on Deck 5, just across the Promenade from The Pearl. Take the first-day family photo there, then grab a slice at Sorrento’s before you start exploring. The pizza is included in your fare, so it’s an easy first stop with hungry grandkids.

Cabins Near Deck 5: What to Know Before You Book

Deck 5 has no staterooms, and neither does Deck 6 above it, so no cabin sits directly over Deck 5. The closest cabins are on Deck 4 below.

If you’re comparing rooms on Deck 4, ask us to check what sits around them. Guest reviews flag a few Deck 4 cabins near Music Hall, a live-music venue. Nothing on Deck 5 itself shows up in those reviews.

Which Part of Deck 5 Fits Your Family?

Here’s how we think about it for families:

  • Boarding day: The Pearl and the 1400 Lobby Bar, right where you step aboard.
  • A family show night: The Wizard of Oz in the Royal Theater, or an ice show at Absolute Zero.
  • A pizza run: Sorrento’s, included in your fare.
  • The singers in the family: Spotlight Karaoke.
  • Early risers: a few laps on the Running Track.
Favorite Grampy
Favorite Grampy’s Insider Tip Royal Caribbean calls Starbucks the one venue outside its drink packages. If someone in your group can’t start the day without a Frappuccino, budget for it. When we price an Icon cruise, we walk families through which drink package, if any, fits how they actually drink.

Is Deck 5 a Good Deck for Families?

Yes, Deck 5 is a deck every family on Icon of the Seas uses, even though nobody sleeps on it. You’ll board here, eat in the main Dining Room, see shows at the Royal Theater and Absolute Zero, and grab pizza at Sorrento’s, all included in your fare.

Frequently Asked Questions About Icon of the Seas Deck 5

What is on Deck 5 of Icon of the Seas?

Deck 5 on Icon of the Seas is the lower level of the Royal Promenade, with no staterooms. The Royal Theater and the Fitness Center are up front, and the Promenade holds Sorrento’s, Starbucks, Spotlight Karaoke, the 1400 Lobby Bar, Point & Feather, Guest Services and the base of The Pearl. The top level of the main Dining Room and the Absolute Zero rink fill the back. What that means for your family: boarding, dinner and the big shows all happen on this one deck.

Where do you board Icon of the Seas?

Most guests step aboard Icon of the Seas on Deck 5, into the lobby by the 1400 Lobby Bar, just across the Royal Promenade from The Pearl. Guest Services is a short walk away, and an escalator across from The Pearl runs down to the casino on Deck 4 and the port-day gangway on Deck 2. In fact, it’s the easiest meeting spot of the whole trip. I tell families to agree on “meet at The Pearl” before anyone wanders off on boarding day.

Is Sorrento’s pizza included on Icon of the Seas?

Yes, Sorrento’s pizza on Icon of the Seas is included in your cruise fare. It’s on Deck 5 along the Royal Promenade, near the forward end, and beer is the only thing on the menu that costs extra. It stays open late into the night, so check the Royal app for hours on your sailing. The truth is, a slice of pizza at 10 p.m. has rescued plenty of tired grandkids after a late show.

Where is the main dining room on Icon of the Seas?

The main Dining Room on Icon of the Seas spans Decks 3, 4 and 5 at the back of the ship, and Deck 5 is its top level. Meals there are included in your cruise fare, and Royal Caribbean simply calls it the Dining Room. It sits just behind the aft elevators on Deck 5, a short walk from Absolute Zero. Here’s what I tell families: pick a dining time that fits the youngest grandchild, because a sleepy six-year-old won’t make a late seating.

Is Starbucks included in the drink package on Icon of the Seas?

No, Starbucks on Icon of the Seas is not covered by Royal Caribbean’s drink packages. Royal Caribbean calls it the one venue outside the packages, so you pay for each drink with your SeaPass card. Starbucks is on Deck 5 along the Royal Promenade. In other words, if a coffee lover in your group plans on a daily Starbucks run, add it to the budget. We help families decide which drink package, if any, makes sense before they sail.

What deck is the Royal Theater on Icon of the Seas?

The Royal Theater on Icon of the Seas is at the front of the ship, and its upper level is on Deck 5, just behind the Fitness Center. The theater spans Decks 4 and 5. It’s home to The Wizard of Oz, a musical you’ll only see on Icon, and the shows are included in your cruise fare. Showtimes are posted in the Royal app. The simple test I use: if the grandkids are old enough to sit through a full-length musical, this is the one show night I wouldn’t skip.
