How Much Does Universal Express Pass Cost in 2026?
Universal Express Pass costs from $109.99 per person, per day, plus tax. That is the one-park price at Universal Studios Florida on the cheapest dates. Express Unlimited for both original parks starts at $174.99, and Epic Universe’s separate pass starts at $139.99, per Universal Orlando’s Express Pass page on October 21, 2026.
In addition, every Express Pass is sold per person and per day, and it never includes park admission. When we priced Thanksgiving weekend 2026 on August 1, Express Unlimited was $265 per person, per day. For a family of four, that is $1,060 a day on top of tickets.
The pass lets you skip the regular standby line once per ride (Express) or as many times as you like (Express Unlimited) at most attractions. Families deciding whether to buy it, upgrade to Unlimited, or book a hotel that includes it will find every number below.
What Do the 2026 Universal Express Pass Prices Look Like?
Every price in this table is the lowest “from” price for select dates. All are per person, per day, plus tax. On holiday weeks the same passes run two to two and a half times higher, so the date you pick matters more than the pass you pick.

What Are the Key Facts About Universal Express Pass?
Is Universal Express Pass priced per person or per family?
Universal Express Pass is priced per person, per day, from $109.99 plus tax, and every member of the family who wants to skip lines needs their own pass.
Does any Universal hotel include Express Pass?
Three Universal Orlando hotels, Loews Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific, include Express Unlimited for Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure for every registered guest, from check-in day through check-out day.
Does Express Pass cover every ride?
No. Express Pass skips the standby line at most attractions, but a handful are excluded, including Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Islands of Adventure and Dragon Racer’s Rally at Epic Universe.
What Is the Difference Between Express and Express Unlimited?

Express skips the standby line once per participating ride. Express Unlimited skips it as many times as you want. The two-park versions are $50 apart at Universal Orlando, $124.99 for Express versus $174.99 for Unlimited, and both are added to a park ticket you buy separately.
Here is how I decide. If your family rides each headliner once and moves on, Express is enough. For example, a one-day visit to Islands of Adventure usually covers VelociCoaster, Hagrid’s standby, Spider-Man, Hulk and the Forbidden Journey once each, which is exactly what Express is built for.
Unlimited earns its $50 when someone wants repeats. A coaster kid who rides VelociCoaster three times before lunch, or a family that loops Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and the Mummy all afternoon, gets its money back by the second ride. Keep in mind that no version of either pass is valid at Epic Universe, which sells its own single-use Express Pass.
Is Universal Express Pass Worth It for Your Family?

Express Pass is worth it on crowd level 7 days or higher. On those days, headliner standby lines regularly pass 60 to 90 minutes. One pass can save a family three to five hours of waiting, and on a level 4 or 5 day on our Universal Orlando crowd calendar, I would skip it and rope drop instead.
Here is the math I run for clients. Count the rides your family wants, multiply by the posted standby wait for your date, and compare that total against the pass price times the number of people. When the saved time passes four hours per person, the pass is a good buy.
That said, some families should not buy it: families with two or more park days in an off-peak week, families happy with six or eight rides a day, and families who would rather spend the $440 on a second day of tickets. Express is a time purchase, and the line in the photo above is exactly the day it earns its keep.
How Does Express Pass Work at Epic Universe?

Epic Universe sells its own Express Pass from $139.99 per person, per day, plus tax. It is single-use per ride, and there is no Unlimited version. It is not included with a Premier hotel stay, and a two-park Express Pass for the original parks does not work here, so budget for it separately.
Even so, Epic is where the longest lines at the resort show up. On busy days, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, and Monsters Unchained regularly post waits past 90 minutes. The photo above is the Bowser’s Castle queue on one of those days.
Beyond that, Dragon Racer’s Rally is the one Epic attraction that does not accept Express at all. The pass works at the park’s other major rides, which makes a single pass stretch further here than at either original park.
For a one-day Epic visit on a level 7 day or higher, I would buy it. On a quiet weekday in late January or early September, I would skip it.
Which Universal Hotels Include Express Pass?

Three Universal hotels include Express Unlimited in the room rate. They are Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific Resort. Every registered guest gets it for Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, from the day you check in through the day you check out, with no daily cap on the number of guests.
That perk is the single biggest swing in the Express Pass math. A family of four on a peak date would pay about $1,060 a day for Express Unlimited at the gate. Two nights at one of these hotels covers three park days of passes for the whole family.
Meanwhile, Loews Sapphire Falls does not include it, even though it sits in the same Signature Collection, and none of the Epic Universe hotels include it either. Our guide to the Universal hotels with free Express Pass covers room rates, the check-in and check-out day rule, and how the perk works with a package.

Price My Universal TripWhat Are the Alternatives to Buying Express Pass?

Single rider lines are the best no-cost alternative to Express Pass. On a busy day they can cut a long wait to a fraction of the posted time. Many of the headliners, including VelociCoaster and Hagrid’s, offer one, and the only catch is that your family will be split up and seated separately.
In addition, every Universal hotel guest gets early entry to a park each morning, one hour before the public. Used well, that hour covers two or three headliners before the standby lines build.
At the top end sits the VIP Experience, which bundles unlimited Express access with a guided tour, a meal and reserved seating. It costs far more than Express Unlimited, so it suits a once-in-a-lifetime trip. My own Universal VIP tour review walks through the day.
Whichever route you pick, check our list of Universal Orlando rides that do not accept Express Pass first. Hagrid’s, Pteranodon Flyers and the Ollivanders wand shops are standby-only no matter what you paid.
How Much Is Express Pass at Universal Studios Hollywood?

Universal Studios Hollywood Express starts at $189.95 per person as a ticket. Park admission is built in, unlike Orlando. The Universal Express Unlimited ticket starts at $239.95 and the VIP Experience at $359.95, all on Universal Studios Hollywood’s online store on October 21, 2026, and all priced by date.
For comparison, 1-Day General Admission starts at $99.95. That makes Express an extra $90 per person on the lowest-priced days, and the gap grows on weekends and school holidays. For a family of four, the Express upgrade adds about $360 on a quiet day.
Hollywood is a smaller park with roughly a dozen rides and shows, so Express covers the whole lineup in a single day. The Studio Tour, the Jurassic World ride, Mario Kart and the two Harry Potter rides are the ones where the Express lane saves real time. No Hollywood hotel includes Express, which keeps the decision simple: buy it for a crowded Saturday, skip it for a quiet Tuesday.
What Do Families Ask About Universal Express Pass?
Is Universal Express Pass per day or per ride?
Universal Express Pass is sold per person, per day, from $109.99 plus tax. One pass covers one park, or both original parks with the $124.99 two-park version, for the full operating day, and it allows one Express-line entry at each participating ride. Express Unlimited covers the same day with no limit on repeats.
Picture how that plays out for a family. If your kids want to ride VelociCoaster twice, standard Express gets them through the fast lane once and the standby line the second time. I tell families to count their must-repeat rides first, and if there are two or more, the extra $50 for Unlimited is the better buy.
Can you buy Express Pass inside the park?
Universal sells Express Pass inside the park at ticket windows and select stores when the day’s allotment has not sold out. In-park prices match the online price for that date, so there is no discount for waiting, and on holiday weeks the daily allotment sells out online before the park opens.
In fact, I have watched families get turned away at the window on a Saturday in March. My rule is simple: if your date lands on a holiday week or a spring break week, buy online the same day you buy tickets. If you are visiting on a weekday in September, you can wait and see how the lines look at the gate.
Do you need a park ticket to use Express Pass?
Universal Express Pass at Universal Orlando is an add-on that never includes admission, so every guest needs a valid park ticket for that date plus their own pass, which puts the one-park total at $109.99 for Express on top of the ticket price. At Universal Studios Hollywood the Express ticket includes admission, starting at $189.95.
Of course, that difference trips up families who visit both coasts. In Orlando, think of Express as a second purchase on top of your tickets. In Hollywood, think of it as a higher ticket tier. Either way, our advisors can bundle it with your park tickets so there is only one thing to keep track of.
Does Express Pass work at Halloween Horror Nights?
Halloween Horror Nights sells its own Express Pass for the haunted houses, and a daytime Express Pass is not valid once the event begins. The event runs on select nights from late August through early November, and its Express Pass is priced by night, with the busiest Saturdays costing the most.
For families doing both a park day and the event, that means two separate Express purchases. I would prioritize the event one. House lines at Halloween Horror Nights run far longer than daytime ride lines, and a night without Express can mean seeing only four or five of the ten houses.
Does Express Pass include Epic Universe?
Epic Universe Express Pass is a separate purchase starting at $139.99 per person, per day, and the two-park pass for Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure is not valid there. The Premier hotel perk does not cover Epic either, so even Hard Rock guests pay for it.
Naturally, that catches a lot of families off guard when they plan a three-park trip. My advice is to treat Epic as its own budget line. Buy the two-park pass or book a Premier hotel for the original parks, then decide on the Epic pass separately based on your crowd level for that day.
Is Express Pass worth it during school holidays?
Express Pass is worth it during school holidays more than at any other time of year. Spring break, summer weekends and Thanksgiving through New Year’s bring standby waits past 90 minutes, and Express Unlimited prices climb past $250 per person, per day, as we saw when we priced Thanksgiving weekend 2026.
Those are also the weeks when a Premier hotel night that includes Express Unlimited beats buying passes outright. For a family of four, two nights at Royal Pacific can cost less than two days of passes. I run that comparison for every holiday-week client before we book anything.
Can two kids share one Express Pass?
Universal Express Pass cannot be shared: each guest who enters the Express line needs their own pass, and it is scanned at the entrance to every participating ride. Children under 3 do not need a park ticket at Universal Orlando, so they do not need an Express Pass either, but every child 3 and older does.
For a family of four with two kids over 3, that means four passes at $109.99 each for one park, or $439.96 before tax. That is the number I put in front of families when they ask me whether a Premier hotel stay makes sense, because it usually does.
How Can a Travel Advisor Help You Plan This Trip?
Our advisors price the Express Pass question for Universal families every week. They will pull your dates against the crowd calendar, compare daily passes against a Premier hotel stay, and tell you plainly whether to buy, upgrade to Unlimited, or skip it. For Epic Universe days, they know which dates sell out and when to buy.
A planning fee applies for full-service trip planning. The amount depends on your trip, and it is quoted during your complimentary 15-minute consultation. Contact us to start, or meet our advisors and pick the one who fits your family.
