Is the Holiday Tour Worth the Money This Year?

Yes, for families who want the Grinch, Max and Santa without standing in three separate lines, especially with kids ages 3 to 9. The tour runs about 2.5 hours on select dates from November 14, 2026 through January 2, 2027, and it starts at $69.99 per person plus tax.

The tour doesn’t include park admission, so you’ll need park-to-park admission for Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure that day. The tour alone is $279.96 for a family of four on a $69.99 date. Add new 1-day park-to-park tickets and that low-price day comes to about $1,010 before tax.

My call: book it if meeting the Grinch, Max and Santa is a highlight of your trip, and pick a weekday priced at $70 to $100. If your crew would rather spend the day on rides, put that money toward something else. Our Grinchmas 2026 guide covers everything else at Grinchmas.

Who Is Visiting Worth It? Why
Kids who love the Grinch, Max and Santa Yes Guaranteed time with all three in one 2.5-hour block
Families who want a Santa photo Yes Santa is part of the tour’s meet and greets
Short trip on a busy date Yes Skips standby lines on level 8 to 10 crowd days
Passholders on a low-price weekday Yes $10 off makes a $69.99 date $59.99 per person
Ride-focused families and teens Probably not The tour is built around character meets and a show, not rides
Families who only want the Grinch Compare first The Grinch breakfast costs about $208 for four and includes a meal

What Are the Key Facts About the Universal Holiday Tour?

How long is the Universal Holiday Tour in 2026?
Universal says the 2026 Universal Holiday Tour is a guided daytime tour that lasts about 2.5 hours, with up to 12 guests per group.

Which Universal Holiday Tour dates had sold out by early November?
Saturday, November 21, Saturday, November 28 and Saturday, December 5 showed as sold out on Universal’s booking calendar on November 6, 2026.

What ticket do you need for the Universal Holiday Tour?
Park admission valid at both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure on your tour date, such as a park-to-park ticket. The tour doesn’t include admission; a new 1-day park-to-park adult ticket ran $184.99 to $244.99 before tax on the FGT ticket price tracker as of November 6, 2026.

What’s Included in the Universal Holiday Tour in 2026?

According to Universal’s holidays page, the 2026 tour is a guided daytime tour of about 2.5 hours. It includes meet and greets with the Grinch, his dog Max and Santa.

You also get reserved seating for The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular, the show in Seuss Landing. Reserved viewing for Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s is listed as optional.

Groups are capped at 12 guests, and Universal says multiple parties can share a group. Reservations are required, and the tour runs only on select dates.

That’s a shorter list than earlier seasons, and I’ll cover what changed further down. What it buys you is time. Three character meets and a reserved show seat in one block is hard to match on your own on a busy December day.

How Much Does the Holiday Tour Cost for a Family of Four?

The tour price changes by date. Universal’s booking calendar showed about $70 to $120 per person as of November 6, 2026, with $69.99 as the lowest and $119.99 on the busiest dates. Annual and Seasonal Passholders get $10 off per ticket.

Then add tickets, unless you already have park-to-park admission for that day. On our Universal Orlando ticket price tracker, a 1-day park-to-park ticket ran $184.99 to $244.99 for adults before tax across the season.

Dated Example, Family of Four (Prices as of Nov 6) Low Date: Thu, Nov 19 Peak Date: Thu, Dec 24 Notes
Universal Holiday Tour $279.96 $479.96 4 guests at $69.99 or $119.99 each, plus tax
New 1-day park-to-park tickets $729.96 $975.96 2 adults and 2 kids ages 3 to 9, before tax; skip this row if you already have park-to-park admission
Total before tax $1,009.92 $1,455.92 A $446 difference between these two dates
Grinch breakfast instead of the tour $207.96 $207.96 2 adults at $64.99, 2 kids at $38.99, gratuity included, plus tax; select mornings only

The same family day costs $446 more on Christmas Eve than on a quiet Thursday in November. If your dates can move, that gap is the strongest reason to plan the tour around the calendar instead of the other way around.

Which Holiday Tour Dates Are the Best Value?

Thursday, November 19 is the best-value tour day of the season. The tour is $69.99, park-to-park tickets sit at their season low of $184.99 for adults, and our crowd calendar forecasts a level 5 at both parks.

December’s best values are Tuesday and Wednesday, December 15 and 16. The tour drops to about $90 those days, and both parks are forecast at 6 or 7.

Two cheap dates come with a catch. December 27 and December 31 also showed about $70 for the tour, but both parks are forecast at level 10 and tickets are at their $244.99 peak.

Book early for Saturdays. November 21, November 28 and December 5 had sold out by November 6. On December 12, the calendar showed a single 9:30 a.m. start, so expect a morning tour.

Favorite Grampy’s Insider Tip Book the tour for a weekday and keep your Saturday for something else. All three dates that had sold out by November 6 were Saturdays, and our crowd calendar forecasts Saturdays like December 5 and 12 at level 8 for both parks.

What Changed From Earlier Holiday Tours?

A Grinch sugar cookie sandwich with green sprinkles, a Grinchmas seasonal treat at Universal Islands of Adventure

Reviews of earlier seasons described extras on this tour, such as holiday treats and priority access to a ride. Universal’s 2026 list doesn’t mention food, cookie decorating or ride access.

The August 6 announcement lists the 2026 tour as the three meet and greets, the reserved show seating and optional parade viewing. That’s the whole package unless Universal adds to it.

I’d read that as a trimmed tour at a lower starting price of $69.99. It’s still a strong deal for the meets, but don’t book it expecting a snack stop or a ride shortcut.

If an earlier tour’s extras were the reason you loved it, check Universal’s tour terms when you book. If the meets were the reason, 2026 delivers the same core in about 2.5 hours.

Is the Holiday Tour Better Than the Grinch Breakfast or Express Pass?

A group of six poses with the Grinch on a red velvet throne at a Grinchmas meet and greet at Universal Orlando

For Grinch-only families, the breakfast wins. Our Grinch and Friends Character Breakfast review puts 2026 at $64.99 for adults and $38.99 for kids 3 to 9, with gratuity included. That’s $207.96 plus tax for four, with a plated meal.

Pick the tour when Santa and the reserved show seats matter too. A family of four pays at least $279.96 plus tax for the tour, but it covers three meets and the show in one block.

Express Pass solves a different problem. It’s built for ride lines, and our Universal Express Pass guide covers when it pays off.

Ride-focused families should put the money toward Express Pass. Families who want the characters should book the tour, and Grinch-only families should book the breakfast.

Favorite Grampy
Favorite Grampy’s Insider Tip If the Grinch is the only character your kids care about, compare the tour with the Grinch and Friends Character Breakfast before you book. Two adults and two kids pay $207.96 plus tax for the breakfast, and you get a full plated meal with it.

Can You Meet the Grinch and Santa Without the Tour?

Universal Orlando's 2026 holiday key art for Grinchmas, Universal's Holiday Parade featuring Macy's and Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Yes, you can meet the Grinch without the tour. Grinchmas in Seuss Landing is included with Islands of Adventure admission from November 14, 2026 through January 3, 2027, and that includes a Grinch meet.

What you give up is the line. Standby lines for the Grinch run long on busy days, and our calendar forecasts 11 days at level 10 for Islands of Adventure this season.

Universal’s holiday pages don’t list a Santa meet outside the tour this year, as of November 6. Earl the Squirrel is easy, though: Universal’s Earl announcement says he meets guests daily in Universal Studios Florida.

On a level 5 or 6 day, I’d skip the tour and do the standby Grinch meet early. On a level 9 or 10 day with kids under 10, the tour earns its price in the time you’ll save.

What Do Families Ask About the Universal Holiday Tour?

Is Grinchmas a separate ticket?

No. Grinchmas is included with Islands of Adventure admission from November 14, 2026 through January 3, 2027. The Universal Holiday Tour is the extra you pay for.

Do you need a park-to-park ticket for the Holiday Tour?

Yes. Universal requires two-park, park-to-park admission to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure on your tour date. A multi-day park-to-park ticket works if it covers that day, and Universal’s holiday tickets page shows the options.

How long is the Universal Holiday Tour?

About 2.5 hours. On the one date we checked, December 12, the tour had a single 9:30 a.m. start.

Does the tour include the holiday parade?

It includes optional reserved viewing for Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s, which runs at night. Plan to come back to Universal Studios Florida that evening if you want to use it.

Do kids need their own tour ticket?

Universal’s booking calendar lists one price for guests of all ages. It doesn’t say how it handles children under 3, so ask when you book.
