How the Scream-O-Meter Works
The Scream-O-Meter listens through your device microphone for four seconds and measures your scream’s relative volume, length, steadiness, and pitch, right inside your browser. Those numbers become a Scream Score from 0 to 100. It is a game, not a lab instrument: phone microphones are not calibrated sound meters, so the score is Scream Energy, not real decibels, and different devices hear differently. The fair fight is a rematch on the same phone.

No. The Scream-O-Meter analyzes sound in real time inside your browser and nothing is recorded, stored, or uploaded. The microphone turns off the moment the four-second scream window ends, and the scoreboard names you enter are saved only on your own device.
How is the Scream Score calculated?
The Scream Score blends three things your browser measures during the four-second window: how loud your scream gets (the biggest factor), how long you hold it, and how steady you keep it. Bonus badges track extras like pitch and lightning-fast jump scares. It is relative Scream Energy from your device microphone, not real decibels.
Can I play on an iPhone or Android phone?
Yes. The Scream-O-Meter works in Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android, plus desktop browsers. If you open it inside the Facebook or Instagram app and the microphone is blocked, tap the option to open the page in your regular browser and play there.
Is this the original Monsters, Inc. Scream-O-Meter from the old movie website?
