Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party: Favorite Grampy’s 2026 Family Guide

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party Grampy-trick-or-treating - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

Well, hey there fellow Disney-loving families! You know what gets Favorite Grampy more excited than finding extra Dole Whip at the bottom of the cup? Planning our annual trip to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party with all the grandkids!

And let me tell you, 2026 is shaping up to be the most BOO-tiful year yet at Magic Kingdom. I’ve been doing my homework (Grammy says it’s the only homework I actually do), and I’ve got all the spooky details you need to make this Halloween absolutely magical for your little goblins.

When the Spooky Fun Begins: 2026 Party Dates and Times

Halloween Party Poster with Mickey Mouse and a Skeleton in Costumes, Bats, Pumpkins, and Spooky Decorations. Text Reads: Mickey’s Not-so-scary Halloween Party, Aug. 7 – Oct. 31, 2026, Magic Kingdom. - Favorite Grampy Travels - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

Okay, so here’s the scoop on when you can join Mickey and the gang for some not-so-scary fun. The party runs select nights from August 7 through October 31, 2026. And get this – the party officially starts at 7 PM and goes until midnight, but they let us in at 4 PM! That’s three extra hours of fun before the real magic begins.

I always tell the grandkids we’re getting “bonus Disney time” because I’m Favorite Grampy, and their faces light up like jack-o’-lanterns!

Your Complete 2026 Event Calendar

Here’s every single party night in 2026 (Grammy made me write these down so I wouldn’t forget):

August: 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 30

September: 1, 4, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 24, 25, 27, 29

October: 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31

That’s 38 nights of Halloween magic! We usually go in early October when it’s not quite as hot, and this Grampy doesn’t melt like the Wicked Witch.

Now here is my one word of caution. Party nights sell out, and the cheapest August dates usually go first. As of August 19, 2026, 16 of those 38 nights are already gone. If you have a night in mind, reserve your party tickets early so your family does not miss out.

Ticket Pricing and How to Save Some Candy Money

Now, I know what you’re thinking – “Favorite Grampy, how much is this going to cost me?” Well, tickets were announced at $119 to $229 per person depending on the date, and as the cheap nights sell out that floor keeps climbing. As of August 19, 2026, the nights still available run $144 to $224. The closer to Halloween, the more expensive it gets.

Favorite Grampy
Favorite Grampy’s Insider TipAnnual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members save $10 per ticket on select dates through October 2. That is enough for an extra Mickey ice cream bar or two. Call 866-846-3141 or use our ticket request form and a Favorite Grampy Travels advisor will grab your party night.

Which Nights Are Best (and Cheapest) for the Party?

Early August weeknights are the cheapest and least crowded party nights, which is exactly why they disappear first. Every August date that was priced under $144 is already gone as of August 19, 2026, and Halloween night itself sold out back in May. Weekends and late October cost the most and draw the biggest crowds.

My family’s sweet spot is a weeknight in the first half of the season. You save real money, the lines move faster, and the weather starts to cool off.

Popular dates sell out months ahead. The earlier you book, the better your pick and the more you save.

What’s New for Halloween 2026 That Has Favorite Grampy Excited

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party-mickey and Minnie Halloween in Front of Castle - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

Oh boy, do I have some exciting news! Disney’s adding some fantastic new treats (and I’m not just talking about candy).

First up, brand-new for 2026 is Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash on the Adventureland Stage, across from Pirates of the Caribbean. It runs on and off from 7 PM to midnight, and it is really three acts that rotate through the night: Captain Jack Sparrow recruiting crew with a bit of guest swordplay, a juggling and stunt crew called the Dashing Corsairs, and Captain Barbossa fronting a pirate band. My grandkids who love the Pirates ride are going to be over the moon!

One naming note so you are not confused on party night. Disney’s website still lists this as “Spirited Swashbucklers,” but the map they hand you in the park says Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash. Same show, two names.

Beyond the new shows, all your family’s favorites return. The Boo-To-You Parade, Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks, Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, and trick-or-treat trails are all back for 2026.

Also new is Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup, a dance party at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland, running 7 PM to midnight. Stitch hosts alongside Lilo and Angel, and I bet even this old Favorite Grampy busts a move or two! Same naming quirk as the pirates: Disney’s website calls it “A Masquerade with Stitch.” It took the spot the Zom-Beatz Bash held in 2025.

This is also the party’s 31st year, and Disney is leaning into it. Your wristband and your treat bag both read “31 Fang-tastic Years,” and the wristband color changes every night so nobody reuses one. There is a 31st-anniversary PhotoPass spot in the park too.

What Changed from 2025

A few things families ask me about are gone or moved this year, so here is the rundown before you build your night around something that is not there:

  • Disney Junior Jam is gone. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café now hosts the Descendants-themed DescenDANCE Party instead.
  • Max’s Powerline pre-parade on Main Street is gone. Max and the Powerline Party Pack now roam as a stage show at several spots through the night instead of leading off the parade. Powerline Max is still in the parade itself.
  • Zom-Beatz Bash is gone, replaced by Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup.
  • Pain and Panic were removed from the Boo-To-You Skeleton Band float. Anastasia and Drizella ride it now.
  • Chip ‘n’ Dale are new, meeting in skeleton costumes near the exit of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
  • The Hitchhiking Ghosts now turn up on stage at The Diamond Horseshoe, and the Grave Diggers joined the Haunted Mansion arrivals on Market Street.

The Not-So-Scary Entertainment That’ll Make Your Heart Soar

The entertainment is what really makes this party special. Trust me, after seeing these shows dozens of times, they still give me goosebumps (the good kind)!

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026 show times. The Headless Horseman rides out about 15 to 20 minutes before each parade.

Grampy’s read on that table: the second parade at 11:15 beats the first at 8:15 if your crew can hang on. It is properly dark by then, the crowd has thinned, and you are not fighting people who staked out a curb at seven o’clock. If the little ones will not last, take the 8:15 and use the 11:15 slot for rides.

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party-halloween Parade Boo to You! - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade

This parade is AMAZING! The Headless Horseman rides through first (the grandkids always grab my hand a little tighter), followed by all our favorite characters in Halloween costumes.

You’ll see the Hitchhiking Ghosts from Haunted Mansion, dancing ghosts, and even Disney villains! My favorite part? When Clarabelle CowMinnie, and Daisy dress up as the Sanderson Sisters. It’s hysterical!

Pro tip from Grampy: Stake out a spot in Frontierland about 20 minutes before the parade. It’s less crowded than Main Street, and the kids can see everything perfectly.

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party-disney - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Firework Show

Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Fireworks

These fireworks are hosted by Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas! The show features Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy getting spirited away to a haunted house.

The projections on Cinderella Castle are incredible. They make the castle look like it’s melting, transforming, and coming alive with spooky magic. We always watch from the hub area, and I make sure to grab some popcorn beforehand.

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party-hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular Stage Show - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular

The Sanderson Sisters put on quite a show right in front of the castle! They bring out Dr. Facilier, Oogie Boogie, Maleficent, and other villains for one wicked performance.

Check the My Disney Experience app for showtimes. We usually catch the later show when it’s a bit less crowded. The grandkids love yelling “Hocus Pocus!” along with the crowd!

Favorite Attractions with Halloween Magic

Now, most attractions stay open during the party, but some get special Halloween treatment that makes them extra fun!

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party Space Mountain Wdw Empty - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

Space Mountain becomes even more thrilling in complete darkness with spooky space music. My teenage grandkids beg to ride it over and over!

Mad Tea Party gets special lighting that makes the teacups glow in eerie colors. Even Grammy joins us on this one!

And Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor features Halloween-themed jokes. Last year, they picked on my granddaughter for her costume (she was dressed as Dopey), and the whole audience was cracking up!

Must-Do Rides During the Party

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party Haunted Mansion Wdw - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

With lower crowds, you can ride so much more! Here are my must-dos by land:

  • Adventureland: Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise
  • Frontierland: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (so good at night!)
  • Liberty Square: Haunted Mansion (obviously!)
  • Fantasyland: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Tomorrowland: TRON Lightcycle/Run, Space Mountain

The lines are usually super short, especially towards the end of the night. Last year, we rode Seven Dwarfs three times in a row!

Trick-or-Treating Through the Kingdom

2025 Wdw Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party Trick or Treating in Costume - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

Okay, this is where Favorite Grampy really shines! They have trick-or-treat trails throughout the park, and yes, adults can trick-or-treat too! Favorite Grampy’s record is going through one line ten times.

Mars Wrigley provides the candy, so you are looking at Snickers, Twix, M&M’s, Skittles, Starburst and 3 Musketeers. Bring a backpack. Do not bring a stroller wagon, those are banned, and Disney tightened stroller measuring this year too (31 inches wide by 52 inches long, and they measure your cup holders and consoles as part of it).

All 13 Trick-or-Treat Stations for 2026

  • Main Street, U.S.A.: Market Street Welcome (closes at 8 PM, see the warning below)
  • Adventureland: Sunshine Tree Terrace, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, Tortuga Tavern
  • Frontierland: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Liberty Square: The Diamond Horseshoe
  • Fantasyland and Storybook Circus: Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Princess Fairytale Hall, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Walt Disney World Railroad Station
  • Tomorrowland: Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, and the Tomorrowland trail across from it
Favorite Grampy
Favorite Grampy’s Insider TipThere is exactly one full-size candy bar at this whole party, a Ghoulish Green Twix, and it is handed out at Market Street Welcome behind Main Street. You only get it if you walk in from outside the park and go through there, and it shuts at 8 PM. Most families are still finishing dinner when it closes and never know it existed. Go there first.

Do the Treat Trails as You Go, Not at the End

This is the tip I have to take back. For years the advice everybody gave, me included, was to save trick-or-treating for the last hour when the lines die down. That stopped working in 2026. The advice went mainstream, and now the treat trails are busiest at the end of the night. Reporters who went to the first parties this month were surprised at how long those lines were at 11 PM.

New plan: hit the stations as you pass them. You are walking by anyway. And in August there is a second reason, which is that a bag of chocolate riding around in Florida heat all evening does not come home in great shape.

For families with food allergies, ask a Cast Member for a special teal-colored bag. Disney simplified this for 2026. You no longer collect tokens at each stop and redeem them later. Cast Members in teal aprons hand allergy-friendly treats straight to you at the treat stations, and you can also stop at the Liberty Square Ticket Office or Merchant of Venus in Tomorrowland, which is a second location added this year. Disney thinks of everything!

Halloween Treats That’ll Make Your Sweet Tooth Scream

Oh boy, here comes my favorite part, THE FOOD! Disney’s chefs go all out for this party, and every year I try to eat everything. Grammy says it’s impossible, but I see that as a challenge!

Disney put out 17 new items for 2026, and the reviewers have already been through all of them. Prices below are what they were charged at the first parties in August 2026, plus tax. Disney moves prices, so treat them as close rather than gospel.

The 2026 Treats Worth Your Money

  • Cruella Cookie Sandwich, $6.29, Pinocchio Village Haus. The runaway favorite of the season. Disney Food Blog said it is the thing to come to that restaurant for and that they are officially obsessed. Cheapest big win on the menu.
  • Graveyard Hot Chicken and Waffle, $13.29, Sleepy Hollow. Reviewers said it blew them away. If you eat one real meal at the party, make it this.
  • Candy Bowl Sundae, $7.99, Auntie Gravity’s. Called a contender for the best sundae at Walt Disney World, full stop.
  • Headless Horseman Treat, $6.99, Casey’s Corner. A photo op you can eat. The whipped cheesecake inside is the part people rave about.
  • Hatbox Ghost Pop, $6.29, Sleepy Hollow. Creamy, a generous portion, and it looks the part.
  • Jalapeño Popper Hot Dog, $14.99, The Lunching Pad. One reviewer said it had no business being that good.
  • Frightful Black Bean Burger, $12.99, Pecos Bill. New for 2026, and the only thing at Pecos Bill worth crossing the park for.
  • Minnie Witch Hat sugar cookie, $7.99, Cosmic Ray’s. A big win with the grandkids.
  • Not-So-Poison Apple Doughnuts, $6.49, Friar’s Nook.
  • Hades Cake Pop, $6.29, The Lunching Pad. A pleasant surprise, with a real chocolate finish.
  • Pumpkin-spiced Funnel Cake Sundae, $8.99, Sleepy Hollow. Funnel cake and pumpkin spice at once, which is the whole point of fall.

What to Skip

Nobody writes this part, and it is the part that actually saves you money. Every one of these got panned by reviewers who paid for them at the first parties this month:

  • Guava Lemonade Slushy, $6.79, Pecos Bill. Disney Food Blog called it one of the worst things they have ever had at Walt Disney World. That is the harshest review of the season and it is not close.
  • Cursed Cowboy Fries, $10.49, Pecos Bill. The burnt ends were not crispy, so the whole thing came out soggy and all one texture.
  • Cauldron Cold Brew, $6.49, Auntie Gravity’s. Looks fantastic, tastes bitter. WDW News Today scored it 2 out of 7, their lowest of the day.
  • Ghoulish Blue Raspberry Slushy, $6.79, The Lunching Pad. Sickeningly sweet, with too much vanilla.
  • Skull-icious Cake, $6.29, Pecos Bill. The flavors work, but the white chocolate skull on top is a sugar bomb.

Two items split the reviewers down the middle, so you are on your own there: the Pumpkin Sundae, $8.29 at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor (one outlet gave it 6 out of 7, another said it was awful) and the DOLE Whip Mango and Chamoy Float, $7.49 at Aloha Isle (one called it a favorite ever, the other called it disappointing).

What’s Gone from Last Year

If you came back for something specific, check here first. The Madame Leota Séance Candle and the Candy Corn Verrine are both off the menu for 2026. The Not A Poisoned Apple Slushy is now the Oogie Boogie Slushy at Cosmic Ray’s, same frozen apple cider underneath. The Pumpkin Pie Mini Churros at Pecos Bill are now Pumpkin Patch Mini Churros, and the dip changed from pumpkin pie to cheesecake.

Good news for the regulars: the Mickey-shaped pumpkin cheesecake, the Ursula Cone, both Golden Oak Outpost items, Casey’s Chipotle BBQ trio and the Apple Cider Margarita at Be Our Guest all came back.

2025 Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party Food Mickey-shaped Cheesecake Main Street Bakery - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

The Mickey-shaped Pumpkin Cheesecake at Main Street Bakery, about $6.49, is to die for (pun intended). Graham cracker crust, pumpkin cheesecake, and white chocolate ganache. It came back for 2026 unchanged. I might have eaten two last year.

2025 Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party Food Not a Poisoned Apple Slushy - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

For drinks, the frozen apple cider with cinnamon whipped cream is still at Cosmic Ray’s, about $6.99, but it goes by a new name in 2026. It is the Oogie Boogie Slushy now. Same drink, new costume. And adults, there’s an Apple Cider Margarita at Be Our Guest that’s absolutely wicked, and it came back this year.

Where to Find the Best Party Eats

Here is the party menu by land, so you can plan your walking route around the food instead of doubling back. Prices are from the first parties in August 2026, plus tax.

Main Street, U.S.A. Casey’s Corner has the Headless Horseman Treat ($6.99) plus the returning Chipotle BBQ Pork and Street Corn trio: fries $8.49, mini corn dogs $13.49, hot dog $15.49. Main Street Bakery has the Mickey cheesecake and a Mickey cinnamon roll ($7.99), which reviewers said to skip. Plaza Ice Cream Parlor has the Pumpkin Sundae ($8.29), which split opinion. The Plaza Restaurant does a Skull Meatloaf ($27) and a new Devilish Crispy Chicken Sandwich ($26).

Adventureland and Frontierland. Golden Oak Outpost still has the Cajun Crawfish and Sausage BOOtine fries and the Beignets from Beyond with cookies and cream dipping sauce. Nobody has published 2026 prices for that stand, so I cannot give you numbers I trust. Aloha Isle has the DOLE Whip Mango and Chamoy Float ($7.49). Pecos Bill is the one to be careful at: the Frightful Black Bean Burger ($12.99) is excellent and almost everything else there got poor reviews.

Liberty Square. Sleepy Hollow is the strongest single stop of the whole party this year. Graveyard Hot Chicken and Waffle ($13.29), Doom Buggy Dumplings ($8.99, genuinely spicy, you have been warned), Hatbox Ghost Pop ($6.29) and the Pumpkin-spiced Funnel Cake Sundae ($8.99). Columbia Harbour House has a S’mores Cup ($5.99) and Liberty Square Market has a Magic Potion Slushy ($6.59).

Fantasyland. Pinocchio Village Haus has the Cruella Cookie Sandwich ($6.29) and a Fra Diavolo Chicken Sandwich ($13.99). Friar’s Nook has Bowl of Bones ($13.99), Haunting Jalapeño Tots ($10.49) and the Not-So-Poison Apple Doughnuts ($6.49). Cheshire Cafe and Storybook Treats both have the new Queen of Hearts Tart ($5.79).

Tomorrowland. Auntie Gravity’s has the Candy Bowl Sundae ($7.99). The Lunching Pad has the Jalapeño Popper Hot Dog ($14.99), the Creepy Kimchi Hot Dog ($13.99) and the Hades Cake Pop ($6.29). Cosmic Ray’s has the new Fang-tastic Garlic Butter Burger ($14.99) and the Minnie Witch Hat cookie ($7.99).

2025 Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party Food Pumpkin Pie Mini Churros Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

Pecos Bill still does the mini churros, but they are Pumpkin Patch Mini Churros in 2026 and the dip changed from pumpkin pie to cheesecake. Same orange sugar, same idea. The grandkids will not notice the difference and I only did because I went looking.

Casey’s Corner serves the Chipotle BBQ Pork and Street Corn items only during the party, and all three came back for 2026. The Candy Corn Verrine did not. In its place is the Headless Horseman Treat at $6.99, and reviewers liked it better anyway.

2025 Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party Food Ursula Cone Ice Cream - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

Don’t miss the Ursula Cone at Storybook Treats, about $8.49, wild berry soft-serve in a black cone with candy coral. It came back for 2026 and it is still worth the photo.

Party Merchandise and What It Costs

Every year somebody in our group swears they are not buying anything and then walks out with a popcorn bucket. Here is what is out there in 2026 so you can budget before you fall in love with something.

The Two Popcorn Buckets Everyone Wants

  • Hatbox Ghost popcorn bucket, $28. It has a lever that opens and closes a little door so he appears and disappears, plus a light and sound switch in the base. Party-exclusive at Walt Disney World.
  • Headless Horseman popcorn bucket, $30. There is a storage compartment in the horse’s back. Fair warning, it holds noticeably less popcorn than a normal bucket.

Both are sold at the popcorn carts near Cinderella Castle, limit two per person per transaction, and Disney releases a limited number each night. Lines form. If one of these is on your list, do it early instead of after the fireworks.

Apparel, Pins and the Rest

  • Pullover or crew neck sweatshirt, $59.99
  • Adult T-shirt, $36.99. Youth T-shirt, $29.99. Ball cap, $32.99
  • Headless Horseman glow-in-the-dark Loungefly convertible bag with a Vampire Mickey coin purse, $90
  • Glow-in-the-dark ear headband with a detachable bat, $46.99
  • Mickey Vampire sculpted mug with lid, $27.99. Skeleton Cinderella Castle ornament, $29.99
  • Limited release pins, $21.99. Glow-in-the-dark limited pins, $24.99 each, with real edition sizes: Goofy 8,000, Vanellope 9,000, Constance Hatchaway 10,000, Maleficent 10,500. The five-pin box set is $110, limited to 2,000

One thing to know before you go hunting: there is no party-exclusive spirit jersey and no party MagicBand this year. A few sites still say otherwise. There is a general Mickey and Minnie Happy Halloween spirit jersey in the wider Walt Disney World range, which is probably where the confusion comes from, but it is not a party item.

The Dessert Party, if You Want a Seat

There are two versions of the Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party, and both need party admission on top of the price:

  • Tomorrowland Terrace viewing, $124 adult and $74 child plus tax. Dessert buffet, specialty drinks, and a seated spot to watch the fireworks.
  • Plaza Garden viewing, $99 adult and $59 child plus tax. Same buffet, seated at Tomorrowland Terrace, then a reserved standing area in the hub.

Worth knowing: the dessert party goes ahead even if the fireworks get cancelled for weather. That is a real consideration in August and September in Florida.

Costume Fun for the Whole Family

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with the Prince Favorite Grampy - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

Here’s where you can really get creative! Everyone can wear costumes to the party, even adults (with some guidelines, of course).

The rules are simple – no masks for anyone over 14, costumes can’t drag on the ground, and no real weapons. Last year, our family went as characters from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I was the Prince, and let me tell you, that polyester costume was HOT!

Throughout the night, you’ll spot characters in special Halloween costumes too. The grandkids love seeing their favorites dressed up!

What Nobody Tells You About Party Night

These are the things you only learn by going, or by reading what people who went in the first two weeks of this season had to say. None of it is on the ticket page.

August Heat Is the Real Story This Year

August 7 is the earliest this party has ever started, and Central Florida did not go easy on the first crowds. On August 11, a party night, the National Weather Service had a heat advisory out for the Walt Disney World area with a heat index of 105 to 110. That is the afternoon you would be walking in at 4 PM.

One guest who did opening night put it plainly afterward: he will do the party again, just not in early August. I would not go that far, but I would plan around it. Here is how:

  • Your 4 PM entry is the heat hack. The worst stretch of the day is roughly 1 to 5 PM. A party ticket lets you skip most of that and still get eight hours in the park.
  • Rethink the costume. A full polyester costume in a 110 heat index is a bad idea, and I say that as the man who wore the Prince outfit. Go light, go breathable, or change into it after dark.
  • Collect candy later, not earlier. Chocolate that has ridden around in a bag since seven o’clock does not travel home well.
  • Build in a real break. Not a bench, a sit-down with air conditioning. Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor and the Hall of Presidents are both cold and dark.

Get Your Wristband Anywhere Except Tomorrowland

You need a wristband to prove you paid for the party, and there are four places to get one starting at 4 PM: the Main Gate, Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland, Fantasy Faire in Fantasyland, and one in Tomorrowland across from Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor.

Skip the Tomorrowland one. Touring Plans, who had people in the park on opening night, said it is reliably the longest line of the four and people queue up 30 to 45 minutes early for it. Fantasy Faire is fast, and Mickey’s PhilharMagic next door turns into a treat stop at 7.

One safety note I want grandparents to hear. The cloth wristband has a sliding clasp that only tightens. Pinch it in too far and it does not loosen again, which matters a lot on a small wrist. Two separate outlets flagged it this season. Put it on loose, check it on the little ones, and if it ends up too tight you can get a replacement at any distribution point or at City Hall.

Ride During the Fireworks, Not After

This is the single best piece of tactical advice to come out of the first parties, and it is measured, not guessed. Touring Plans tracked waits on opening night. At 10 PM, while the fireworks were going, TRON dropped to a 30 minute posted wait. Families with small children leave in droves once the fireworks end, so the window is during the show, not after it.

The same trick works on characters, and the numbers are startling. Jack Skellington and Sally were a 120 minute wait at 4:30 PM. At 10:07 PM they were 30 minutes. Mickey and Minnie were 20 minutes at that same moment.

Which leads to the one real decision of your evening. Jack and Sally are the only meet running at 4 PM, and the line hits two hours by 4:30. Either you commit to it right at four o’clock and give up your early evening, or you write them off until the fireworks dip. There is no middle option, and half-committing is how families lose two hours and get nothing.

One thing that trips people up: character wait times are only posted on the sign at the location. They do not show in My Disney Experience. If you want to know, you have to walk past.

Three Things That Changed About Party Nights

  • Lightning Lane does not work during the party. If you hold a separate regular day ticket you can still use it between 4 and 6 PM, but once the party starts it is off.
  • Magic Kingdom closes to everybody else at 6 PM on party nights, and cast members set up rope lines beforehand to move non-party guests out. Between Halloween and Christmas that is around 63 early-closure nights in five months, so if you are booking a regular Magic Kingdom day this fall, check the calendar first.
  • Extended Evening Hours are suspended at Magic Kingdom from late August into early January. That is a deluxe resort perk gone for the season, and it should change which hotel you pick if that perk was part of your reasoning.

Favorite Grampy’s Pro Tips for Making Halloween Memories

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party Candy Stroller Ben and Sammy - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026

After years of doing this party, here are my best tips:

  • Arrive at 4 PM to enjoy rides before party time. We usually eat dinner then too.
  • Bring a backpack for all that candy! And maybe some gallon Ziploc bags for overflow.
  • Don’t miss the dance parties. Disney Junior Jam is gone for 2026. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café now hosts the Descendants-themed DescenDANCE Party in its place, running 7 PM to midnight. If your littlest ones were counting on Disney Junior, head to Storybook Circus for characters instead.
  • Take breaks. Find a bench during the parade and rest those feet.
  • Use PhotoPass photographers. They’re everywhere and capture the magic perfectly. Plus, they have exclusive Halloween Magic Shots!
  • Ride at 10 PM, during the fireworks, not after them. See the section above, the measured waits back this up.
  • Eat before 7 PM and mobile order early. Most food locations close between 9 and 10, and the popular mobile order windows sell out.
  • Stay past midnight. The last Hocus Pocus show starts at midnight and runs to nearly 12:30, and the shops stay open after that with almost nobody in them. The last hour is the best hour.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party Halloween Entrance - Favorite Grampy Travels 2026
Is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party worth the extra cost?

Absolutely! Between exclusive entertainment, short ride lines, unlimited candy, special character meets, and unique food, it’s worth every penny. The grandkids talk about it all year!

What ages enjoy the party most?

All ages! My 3-year-old granddaughter loved the characters and candy. At the same time, my teenage grandson couldn’t get enough of the villains and riding Space Mountain in the dark.

Do I need a regular park ticket plus a party ticket?

Nope! Your party ticket is all you need. It gets you into Magic Kingdom starting at 4 PM.

How scary is “Not-So-Scary”?

It’s really not scary at all! Think fun Halloween decorations, not haunted house jump scares. It’s perfect for families.

Can I still ride regular attractions?

You bet! Most attractions stay open, and with lower crowds, you’ll ride more than on a regular day.

What happens if it rains?

The party goes on! Bring ponchos. Some of our best memories are from dancing in the rain during the parade!

How Far in Advance Should I Buy Party Tickets?

Buy as early as you can, because the most popular nights sell out months in advance. When 2026 tickets went on sale, Halloween night sold out before 9 a.m. on the first day, and the cheapest $119 August nights went fast too. If you know your travel dates, I tell families to grab their party tickets the day they go on sale. That is exactly what we watch for you, so you do not lose your night while you are still deciding.

How Is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Different from Halloween Horror Nights?

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary is a family party for every age, while Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights is a scare event built for teens and adults. My party runs 7 PM to midnight at Magic Kingdom with trick-or-treating, the Boo-To-You Parade, and characters in costume. No gore, no chainsaws, no jump scares. Halloween Horror Nights is the opposite, with haunted houses, roaming scare actors, and frights that most kids under 13 should sit out. If your crew wants candy and Mickey, choose the party. If your teens want to scream, here is our guide to Halloween Horror Nights 2026. We book both, so I can tell you which one fits your family.

Which Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Nights Are Sold Out for 2026?

As of August 19, 2026, sixteen of the thirty-eight nights are sold out: August 7, 11, 14, 18, 21 and 23, September 4, 8 and 11, and October 6, 8, 9, 13, 15, 29 and 31. Twenty-two nights are still available, from $144 to $224 per ticket plus tax. This changes almost weekly, so check our Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket page, where we keep the live night-by-night list.

How Quickly Does Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Sell Out?

Faster than most families expect. Halloween night, October 31, sold out within about half an hour of tickets going on sale in May 2026. The cheapest August nights went next, well before the season started. By mid-August, sixteen of the thirty-eight nights were gone, and six of those sold out in a single nine-day stretch. If your travel dates are set, book the party night the day tickets go on sale rather than waiting to see how the trip shapes up.

What Time Does Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Start and End?

The party runs 7:00 PM to midnight. Your party ticket gets you into Magic Kingdom from 4:00 PM, so you get three extra hours before it officially begins. Magic Kingdom closes to everyone without a party ticket at 6:00 PM. The last Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular starts at midnight and runs until close to 12:30 AM, and shops stay open after that.

Is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party the Same as Oogie Boogie Bash?

No, and they are on opposite coasts. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida. Oogie Boogie Bash is at Disney California Adventure at Disneyland in California. They are different events with different shows, different treat trails and different tickets. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary has the Boo-To-You Parade and the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular; Oogie Boogie Bash has the Villains Grove and the Frightfully Fun Parade. If someone tells you they are going to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary at Disneyland, they mean Oogie Boogie Bash.

Is It Too Hot for an August Party at Magic Kingdom?

August 7 is the earliest this party has ever started, and the first two weeks were rough. On August 11, a party night, the heat index in the Walt Disney World area was forecast at 105 to 110. It is doable, but plan for it: use your 4:00 PM entry to skip the worst afternoon heat, keep costumes light or change into them after dark, take a real air-conditioned break rather than a bench, and collect candy later in the evening so the chocolate does not melt in your bag. If your family struggles in heat, a late September or October night is the kinder choice.
