What Is Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge?

Quick Answer: Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is a nature-themed Walt Disney World resort projected to open in summer 2027 on Bay Lake. It will offer 967 accommodations, three dining locations, a fireworks-view lounge, and boat service to Magic Kingdom.

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is the newest resort coming to Walt Disney World, and it is being built on the quiet south shore of Bay Lake. Disney Vacation Club shared the first real details in April 2026, and two more updates have followed since.

The resort will hold 967 themed accommodations, running from studios all the way up to multi-bedroom villas. It will also debut something Walt Disney World has never had before, one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses right on the waterfront.

The whole place is built around nature. Disney’s designers pulled from decades of animated films rooted in the outdoors, including Bambi, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear. You can read every update Disney has published on the official Letters from Lakeshore page.

I have been watching this one with excitement, and it is shaping up to be the most relaxing resort on the property.

Where Will Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Sit on Property?

The resort is going up on the south shore of Bay Lake, tucked between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. That stretch of shoreline has been quiet for a very long time.

Because of that angle, the property looks across the water toward Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Magic Kingdom. Disney has confirmed that many rooms will have Bay Lake views during the day and fireworks views at night.

Disney also says guests walking the recreation path will find a special plaque honoring a beloved historic attraction that once stood on that exact spot. Disney has not said which attraction, though anyone who has been visiting since the 1970s has a strong guess.

Families should read that location for what it is, a wooded, water-facing pocket of the property well away from highway noise and parking-lot sprawl.

What Will the Lakeshore Lodge Lobby Look Like?

Disney released the first lobby artwork on August 4, 2026, and it is the most striking reveal so far. Floor-to-ceiling windows will open onto The Wetlands recreation area, pulling the outdoors into the room.

Look down and you will find a shimmering fiberoptic river lighting the floor, inspired by the storytelling of Pocahontas. Look up and you will see a blown glass Colors of the Wind sculpture built from hundreds of suspended glass leaves.

In addition, Disney is using natural materials throughout the space. Custom tapestries will pull from the film’s landscapes, and the furnishings will carry accents of river-recovered cypress wood.

My grandson Ben is 10 now, and he is at the age where he notices this stuff. A ceiling full of floating glass leaves is exactly the kind of magic he would love to point out to each member of our family.

What Restaurants Are Coming to Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge?

Disney has confirmed three dining locations at opening, and each one sits in a different part of the resort.

Moonglade

Moonglade is the table-service restaurant, positioned right on the lakefront. Floor-to-ceiling windows will frame the arching cypress trees along Bay Lake, and the menu will feature seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.

Bay Lake Provisions

Bay Lake Provisions is the all-day quick-service marketplace, with specialty coffees and fresh fare in an open-kitchen setting. Disney has hidden woodland critters from classic films throughout the space, so tell your kids to start hunting.

Paint Out Point Bar & Grill

Paint Out Point sits near Lakeshore Lagoon and serves shareable bites and specialty drinks. The design draws on plein-air painting, and the walls will hold original artwork Imagineers created while studying the Bay Lake landscape.

A resort with only one table-service restaurant fills up fast at dinner. When dining reservations open for summer 2027, Moonglade will be one of the hardest bookings on property, especially the 60-day window in June and July. Have your advisor working that reservation at 6:00 a.m. Eastern on your first eligible day.

What Is The Wetlands Recreation Area?

The Wetlands is the resort’s outdoor heart, and it sits just past the lobby. Disney designed it for both energy and rest, which is a rare combination at a Disney World pool complex.

Younger kids get two dedicated zones. Heron Shores offers climbing features and hands-on play, while Otter Springs brings interactive water features for splashing and sliding.

The Wetlands also includes the Daydream River, a lazy river that carries guests through the recreation area at an easy pace, and Lakeshore Lagoon, a zero-entry feature pool with a spiral waterslide.

For those seeking relaxation, there is a second, quieter option. Cypress Point sits on the opposite side of the resort with a leisure pool and whirlpool spa, perfectly positioned for nightly Magic Kingdom fireworks views.

A scenic path winds through it all, with facts about the local plants and animals posted along the way.

What Room Types Will Lakeshore Lodge Offer?

Disney Vacation Club has confirmed 967 themed accommodations, and the range is wide. Studios sit at one end, and spacious multi-bedroom villas sit at the other.

The headline rooms are the Lake Houses. These one- and two-bedroom units will sit directly along the waterfront, offering more privacy and closer water views than anything else at the resort.

According to Disney Vacation Club’s announcement, the rooms will use warm natural materials, earthy color palettes, and upscale finishes. Many will look out at Bay Lake by day and Magic Kingdom fireworks by night.

Lakeshore Lodge is a Disney Vacation Club property, and Disney has not yet announced how rooms will be released or what they will cost. Your advisor can walk you through the options as Disney releases them.

Where Can You Watch Fireworks at Lakeshore Lodge?

Dandelion Terrace is the answer, and it may be my favorite reveal in the whole announcement. This lounge is built specifically for watching Magic Kingdom fireworks light up the sky over Bay Lake.

Inside, guests will find a two-story gallery of archival artwork from Disney classics, including Fantasia. Whimsical dandelion light fixtures hang overhead, and the lighting stays soft so the view outside stays the star.

On top of that, Cypress Point gives you a second fireworks vantage point from the leisure pool and whirlpool spa. Two dedicated viewing spots at one resort is special.

For families with young kids who cannot make it through a late park night, this is an amazing perk. You can put everyone in pajamas, walk downstairs, and still see the show your kids will remember for years.

Opening-season stays come with trade-offs. Landscaping needs a full year to fill in, restaurant teams are still finding their rhythm, and some amenities open on a delay. If your family is taking a once-in-a-decade trip, book a proven resort for 2027 and save Lakeshore Lodge for 2028. If you love being first, opening summer is a blast.

How Will Guests Get to the Theme Parks?

Boat service to Magic Kingdom is confirmed, and that is the single most valuable transportation detail in the announcement. Water transportation to Magic Kingdom is available at only a handful of Walt Disney World resorts.

Beyond that, Lakeshore Lodge guests get the standard Disney Resorts Collection benefits. Those include complimentary transportation across the entire property and extra time in the theme parks each morning.

For now, Disney has not confirmed how buses will serve the resort, or whether Extended Evening Hours will be included. Both would matter to families splitting time across all four parks.

Still, the Magic Kingdom boat tells you what this resort is for. If your family’s trip revolves around Magic Kingdom days, this location is hard to beat.

Which Families Will Love Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge?

Multigenerational groups are the clearest fit. With villas and two-bedroom Lake Houses in the mix, grandparents, parents, and kids can share a kitchen and a living room instead of booking three separate rooms.

Families with young children come next. Otter Springs, the zero-entry pool, and the lazy river give little ones plenty to do without a single height requirement.

However, Magic Kingdom-focused families may benefit most of all. A boat ride beats a bus ride every single time when you are hauling a stroller and a tired four-year-old.

Repeat visitors will also find something alluring here. If you have already done the parks a dozen times, a wooded lakefront resort with two fireworks-viewing spots is a different kind of Disney trip.

Since the design leans calm and grown-up rather than loud and character-heavy, couples and adults may find Lakeshore Lodge to be ideal.

Which Families Should Look at a Different Resort?

This won’t be every family’s favorite resort, and I would rather tell you now than after you have paid a deposit.

I would recommend Epcot and Hollywood Studios families to look elsewhere. If most of your park days land on that side of the property, a Skyliner resort will save you real time every morning.

Meanwhile, kids who want loud, obvious theming may find this one subtle. There are no giant character statues or oversized props, and that is intentional.

Budget-minded families may also prefer a different resort. Lakeshore Lodge is a deluxe-tier property in one of the most desirable locations at Walt Disney World, and the pricing will reflect that.

Finally, timing matters. Anyone traveling before summer 2027 simply cannot stay here yet, so build your trip around a resort that exists today.

How Should You Plan a Lakeshore Lodge Trip Now?

Reservations have not opened, and Disney has not released rates or a specific opening date. Disney has said more details on dining, recreation, and amenities are coming in the months ahead.

What you can do is get ready. Tell your travel advisor now that Lakeshore Lodge is your target, so your preferences are already on file when booking opens.

In the meantime, pick a backup resort and hold it. Summer 2027 is peak season, and a new deluxe resort opening will pull enormous demand.
