When Is Walt Disney World Least Crowded in 2027?

Walt Disney World is least crowded in September 2027, when 26 of 30 days forecast at crowd level 5 or lower and the four parks average 4.3 out of 10, followed by August 2027 (22 of 31 days at 5 or lower, average 5.0) and the weeks of January after the holiday crowd leaves (8 days at 5 or lower, quietest week January 4 to 10 at 5.5). Those three months hold all 56 of the 2027 days that forecast at 5 or lower; every other month has none.

The busiest stretches are the opposite corners of the calendar: December 24 to 30 forecasts a flat 10 at every park, spring break week March 22 to 28 averages 9.5, and Thanksgiving week November 21 to 27 averages 7.8. The figures come from our Walt Disney World Crowd Calendar, which blends posted wait-time history with a seasonal model of holidays, school breaks and events, and is refreshed every month through March 2028.

Here is why this matters more in 2027 than it used to. The gap between a quiet September weekday (about 4) and Christmas week (10) is the difference between walking onto Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and a two-hour standby line, and no amount of Lightning Lane spending closes that gap. Pick the week first; everything else in the trip gets easier.

Least Crowded Days at Disney World 2027 Quick Facts

What is the least crowded month at Walt Disney World in 2027?
September 2027. The four parks average 4.3 out of 10 and 26 of the 30 days forecast at level 5 or lower, with September 7 to 13 the quietest week of the whole year at 4.0.

How many quiet days does 2027 have?
56 days forecast at level 5 or lower: 8 in January, 22 in August and 26 in September. The other nine months have none.

What is the busiest week at Walt Disney World in 2027?
December 24 to 30, 2027, a forecast of 10 at all four parks every day, followed by spring break week March 22 to 28 at 9.5.

Which 2027 Weeks Are the Quietest at Walt Disney World?

The quietest seven-day windows of 2027 are the three full weeks of September after Labor Day, each averaging 4.0 across the four parks: September 7 to 13, September 14 to 20 and September 21 to 27. The week that straddles the months, August 27 to September 2, averages 4.9, and every week from August 1 through August 21 averages 5.0.

In addition, January delivers three windows at 5.5: January 4 to 10, January 18 to 24 and January 25 to 31, with January 11 to 17 close behind at 5.8. Those are the only weeks outside late summer that get under 6, and they come with the coolest weather of the year and runDisney’s marathon weekend in early January to plan around.

That said, the quiet weeks are quiet for a reason. September is the heart of hurricane season and the hottest month for afternoon storms, most of the country is in school, and Disney typically trims park hours and entertainment. The trade is real, and for a family that can travel while school is in session it is the best trade on the calendar.

Rank 2027 Dates Average Crowd Level What It Feels Like
1 September 7 to 27 (any of the three weeks) 4.0 Walk-on mornings at every park, short standby lines all day, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary party nights already running
2 August 27 to September 2 4.9 The Labor Day weekend bump sits inside it; the days after are the payoff
3 August 1 to 21 5.0 Hot, but every day is a 5; schools across the South are already back
4 September 28 to October 4 5.3 Food and Wine at EPCOT lifts that park; the other three stay easy
5 January 4 to 10, 18 to 24, 25 to 31 5.5 Cool mornings, shorter hours, some refurbishments; the best value weeks of winter

Which 2027 Dates Should You Avoid at Walt Disney World?

Avoid December 18 through December 31, 2027 if crowds bother you at all: the forecast runs 8.8 to 10 every day and hits 10 from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Eve. Spring break is the other wall: from March 8 through March 30 the forecast never drops below 7.8, and March 22 to 30 runs 9.2 to 9.8 every day, because Easter falls on March 28, 2027 and pulls the whole country’s break into the same two weeks.

Meanwhile, the long weekends are smaller spikes than families expect. Presidents Day weekend tops out at 7.8 on Saturday, February 13, Memorial Day weekend runs 7.0 to 7.5, and the Fourth of July week averages 7.5. Thanksgiving is the exception, with Wednesday through Saturday, November 24 to 27, at 8.5 to 9.0 before dropping to 6.2 on the Sunday.

For example, a family choosing between the last week of March and the first week of May 2027 is choosing between a 9.5 and a 5.9. Same tickets, same resort prices in many cases, and the difference of more than three levels shows up in every line you stand in.

Favorite Grampy
Favorite Grampy’s Insider Tip If you are stuck with a holiday week, book the shoulder of it, not the middle. The 2027 forecast drops from 9.0 on Saturday, November 27 to 6.2 on Sunday, November 28, and January opens at 8.2 on New Year’s Day before settling to 5.8 by Monday, January 4. The families we plan for who arrive the day the crowd leaves get the decorations and the short lines both.

Does the Day of the Week Matter at Disney World in 2027?

Across all of 2027, Wednesdays and Thursdays are the lightest days at 6.1, Tuesdays run 6.2, Sundays 6.3, Mondays and Fridays 6.6, and Saturdays are the heaviest at 6.8. That is a spread of less than one level across the week, against a spread of six levels between a September Tuesday and Christmas week.

Our crowd calendar’s own 13 months of posted wait-time history, August 2025 through August 2026 with holiday weeks set aside, tells the same story park by park: Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios were lightest on Sundays, EPCOT was heaviest on Mondays and lightest on Wednesdays, and Animal Kingdom was the one park with a real weekend swing, about a level and a half higher on Saturdays than midweek.

As a result, the practical rule is simple. Pick the week by the calendar, then put Animal Kingdom on a weekday and save the Saturday for a park you have already seen or a resort day. Do not skip a quiet week because it starts on a Saturday.

How Do You Match the Quiet Days to Your School Calendar? A Loudoun County Example

The question families actually type is not “when is Disney World least crowded” but “which of our days off are the least crowded,” and the answer changes district by district. Here is the 2027 forecast laid over the Loudoun County Public Schools calendar, using every student day off on our LCPS calendar page, which reads the dates from the board-adopted calendars for 2026-27 and 2027-28.

The first thing the overlay shows is that Loudoun’s quietest days off are not the obvious ones. The last two and a half weeks of summer break, August 1 to 18, forecast a flat 5.0 while most southern districts are already back in class, and the student holiday after second quarter, January 23 to 25, lands on a 5.9 weekend. Spring break, at 9.2, is the single worst window Loudoun families are handed all year.

LCPS Days Off (2027) Travel Window Days 2027 Forecast (Average, Range) Grampy’s Verdict
Martin Luther King Jr. Day Jan. 16 to 18 3 6.5 (5.8 to 7.0) Fine. Arrive Sunday, the Monday itself is 5.8
Student holiday after Quarter 2 Jan. 23 to 25 3 5.9 (5.8 to 6.0) Go. The best long weekend of the school year
February student holiday Feb. 5 to 7 3 6.5 (6.2 to 6.8) Good, not great; February also carries EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts and a runDisney weekend
Presidents Day Feb. 13 to 15 3 7.3 (6.8 to 7.8) Skip if you have a choice
March student holidays Mar. 6 to 9 4 7.8 (7.2 to 8.2) Spring break season has started; expect lines
Spring break Mar. 20 to 28 9 9.2 (7.8 to 9.8) The worst window of the year, Easter is March 28
Student holiday after Quarter 3 Apr. 10 to 12 3 7.8 (7.5 to 8.0) Skip; still spring break for other states
Memorial Day May 29 to 31 3 7.2 (7.0 to 7.5) The week before it runs 5.8 to 6.2; take a Friday off instead
Summer break June 12 to Aug. 18 68 6.1 overall; Aug. 1 to 18 is 5.0, July 1 to 7 is 7.5 Go in August. The last two weeks are the quietest days a Loudoun family gets
Labor Day break Sept. 3 to 6 4 5.9 (5.5 to 6.8) Good, and it opens onto the quietest month of the year
Indigenous Peoples’ Day Oct. 9 to 11 3 7.3 (7.0 to 7.8) Columbus Day weekend is a regional peak; skip
Fall Getaway Oct. 28 to Nov. 2 6 6.1 (5.5 to 6.8) Go. Six days, Halloween in the parks and the November 1 switch to Christmas
Thanksgiving Nov. 24 to 28 5 8.3 (6.2 to 9.0) Wonderful and intense; the Sunday drops to 6.2
Winter break Dec. 18 to 31 14 9.6 (8.8 to 10) Only the first weekend, Dec. 18 to 19, stays under 9.5

Even so, three Loudoun windows come out clearly ahead: the back half of summer, the January student holiday, and the Fall Getaway. A family that can add two days to Labor Day gets the best of all: the forecast falls from 5.8 on Monday, September 6 to 3.5 on Tuesday, September 7.

Fairfax, Arlington and the districts we add next each have their own version of this table, and our Northern Virginia school calendars hub is where those live. The method is the same for any district in the country: put your board-adopted days off next to the forecast and the answer is usually not the break you assumed.

Favorite Grampy
Favorite Grampy’s Insider Tip One of my favorite times to take the grandkids is exactly that Loudoun Fall Getaway window: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the end of October, where the kids loop the trick-or-treat trail for bags of candy, then walking into Magic Kingdom on November 1 after the overnight switch to Christmas. The 2027 forecast for those six days is a 6.1, not the quietest week of the year, but the parks are dressed for two holidays at once and the forecast sits two to three levels under Thanksgiving week.

Send us your district’s calendar and we will mark the 2027 weeks worth booking, with the forecast next to each one.
