Hi there, I’m Nicole, your resident nomad. I grew up in Florida and pursued an education degree, teaching for a few years without having traveled much. That all changed when a friend invited me to Venezuela. I got my passport and embarked on my first international trip, which ignited my passion for travel.
In the same year, I visited Israel and Egypt, and enjoyed a 10-day cruise to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean islands. I was hooked. I eventually left my teaching job in the public school system to teach in South Korea and Japan. My then-boyfriend, now husband, and I seized every opportunity to travel, exploring new countries by train, bus, and plane.
After our teaching contracts ended, we spent every penny eloping in Thailand, backpacking through Southeast Asia and renting an RV to drive through Europe, spending five months transforming our lives through travel. I found that as long as I had a plane ticket in hand and the next itinerary planned and paid for, I was good to go and life could go on.
Fast forward a few years, and now we have three kids. We’ve taken them on incredible adventures, including renovating a school bus to live off-grid and traveling through the United States, Canada, and Mexico. We’ve also brought them overseas to share in our love for exploring new places. We have been to more than 57 countries, 44 states and have plans to just keep adding to the list.
When we travel, we enjoy venturing off the beaten path, but we always end our trips in luxurious settings. There’s nothing like a restful night in a gorgeous hotel with room service to cap off your memories.
In the past 11 years, we’ve lived in eight states, immersing ourselves in various cultures and environments. Once our kids reached school age, we settled down in the Kansas City suburbs, a place that felt like home among all our travels.
