Krystal Culpepper is a Concierge Travel Advisor with Favorite Grampy Travels, specializing in Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, and Universal Orlando, based in Aldie, Virginia.
I’m a leukemia survivor. That fact changed how I see everything, including how I plan vacations. When your world shifts in an instant, you stop putting trips off for “someday.” You book them. You go. You make the memories now, because you understand how quickly the chance can disappear.
That perspective is at the center of every itinerary I build. I don’t treat vacations as luxuries. I treat them as the thing your family will actually remember 10 years from now. My husband and I made travel a priority the moment we had kids, and our three children grew up in Disney parks, on Disney ships, and in countries most of their friends have only read about. They’re all in college now, and the trips we took together are still what we talk about at the dinner table.
I first set foot in a Disney park during a high school cheer competition. We performed on the Indiana Jones stage at what was then MGM Studios, now Hollywood Studios. From the minute I walked into Magic Kingdom that same trip, I was hooked. I became the person who planned every family trip, then every friend’s trip, then every extended family member’s trip. Eventually I made it official and became a travel agent with Favorite Grampy Travels, a Universal U-Preferred Platinum agency and Authorized Disney Vacation Planner.
I’m a Disney Vacation Club member at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and I’ve stayed there more times than I can count. I know which longhouses are quietest, which rooms have the best views of Seven Seas Lagoon, and where to find the spots most guests walk right past. The resort is getting a reimagined entrance and new Island Tower, with construction running through late 2026. If you’re planning a Polynesian stay this year, I can walk you through exactly what to expect and how to make the most of it.
My family visits Walt Disney World one to two times every year, and I bring that current, firsthand knowledge to every trip I plan. I know which dining reservations fill up the fastest, which Lightning Lane selections are worth it on which days, and how to build a park plan that actually gives your family room to breathe. My favorite meal on property is California Grill at the Contemporary Resort. Order the sushi and the steak, request a window table, and time your reservation around the fireworks. That’s the kind of insider tip you get from someone who’s done it dozens of times.
For more than a decade before becoming a travel advisor, I worked as a senior executive assistant. That career built the skill set I use every day: managing complex schedules, coordinating logistics across multiple moving parts, and making sure no detail falls through. When a client tells me my ability to take what they think they want and make it even better is why they booked with me again, that’s the executive assistant in me showing up in a different setting.
I sail with Disney Cruise Line one to two times a year and hold Gold status with DCL, which means I’ve sailed enough to know the difference between a good cruise and a great one. The Disney Wish is my favorite ship. The themed bars and restaurants are unlike anything on other lines. The adults-only areas are peaceful and thoughtfully designed. And yes, Rapunzel is on the ship, which makes this Rapunzel fan very happy.
Disney does cruising differently than anyone else. The attention to detail, the rotational dining where you move between restaurants each night with the same servers, and the entertainment options that genuinely work for adults and children at the same time make it a vacation where no one in the family compromises. If you’ve been considering a Disney cruise but aren’t sure where to start, the ship, the itinerary, and the stateroom category all matter more than most people realize. I help families sort through those choices based on who’s traveling and what they care about most.
We’ve also traveled internationally to Thailand, Greece, Vietnam, and Italy. I’ve walked through Phuket, explored Athens and Corfu, spent time in Phu Quoc, and visited Rome, Florence, and Venice. That range of travel experience helps me understand what different families are looking for, even when the destination is closer to home.
My insider tip: plan a rest day in the middle of your trip. Not a full off day, just a slower one. Sleep in, have a long breakfast, enjoy the resort. It makes a huge difference in how your family feels for the second half of the vacation.
Based in Northern Virginia, I work with families across the country. Whether you’re local to the DC area or planning from across the U.S., I handle every detail so all you have to do is show up and enjoy.
Q: What makes Krystal Culpepper different from other Disney travel advisors?
I’m a DVC member at the Polynesian, a Disney Cruise Line Gold member, and I visit Walt Disney World one to two times a year. I’ve also traveled internationally to four countries. That combination of Disney depth and world travel gives me perspective most advisors don’t have, and it shows in the itineraries I build.
Q: Is Disney Cruise Line worth it for adults without kids?
Absolutely. The adults-only areas on ships like the Wish are designed for real relaxation, not an afterthought. Rotational dining, live entertainment, and private island stops at Castaway Cay make it a full vacation on its own. I sail with DCL regularly as an adult and love it just as much without kids on board.
Q: How far in advance should I book a Disney World vacation?
For the best resort availability and dining reservations, I recommend starting the planning process six to eight months before your travel dates. Dining reservations open 60 days out and the most popular restaurants fill up within minutes. I handle the booking logistics and reservation timing so nothing slips through.
Q: What’s the best Disney World resort for families who want to be close to Magic Kingdom?
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is on the monorail line and a short boat ride from Magic Kingdom. As a DVC member there, I know the property inside and out, from the best room locations to the dining options and the new Island Tower. For families who want that resort-meets-theme-park proximity, it’s hard to beat.
Favorite Park: Hollywood Studios: Pixar, Star Wars, and the best of everything Disney does. Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge in one park is hard to beat.
Favorite Restaurant: California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort: The sushi, the steak, and fireworks views over Magic Kingdom from the rooftop. Time your reservation right and you won’t forget it.
Favorite Attraction: Toy Story Mania at Hollywood Studios: The arcade-style ride brings out the competitive side in everyone. My family keeps a running score.
Favorite Snack: The Kitchen Sink Sundae at Magic Kingdom. It has everything and it comes in a sink. Enough said.
Favorite Character: Rapunzel. Zest for life, zest for adventure. She’s my favorite for a reason.
Favorite Cruise Ship: Disney Wish: Over-the-top themed bars and restaurants, the most serene adults-only spaces in the fleet, and the Aquamouse. It’s the ship I recommend first for families new to Disney Cruise Line.
Favorite Adventure: Phuket, Thailand. The kindest people, the most incredible food, and beaches that looked unreal. I can’t wait to go back.
