What Makes a Universal Orlando Travel Agency U-Preferred Platinum?

U-Preferred is Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations’ recognition program for travel agencies, with five tiers earned on qualifying Universal sales (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond), and Favorite Grampy Travels holds Platinum, the second-highest tier. That standing, plus 80-plus concierge travel advisors, a 5.0 Google rating across more than 400 reviews, offices in Leesburg, Virginia and Celebration, Florida, and an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner designation for split Orlando trips, is why we book Epic Universe, the three hotels that include Unlimited Express Pass, and vacation packages with park tickets included for families nationwide, for a planning fee that averages around $250 per trip (ticket-only and single-service requests run $0 to $200, and many carry no fee at all).

Why Universal Is Complex Now

Universal Orlando Isn’t a “Just Show Up” Trip Anymore

A sign at Universal Studios reads SKIP THE REGULAR LINES. Universal Express Pass—available at Guest Services and Rental Services—lets you enjoy rides like Hagrid's Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure faster against a green and yellow background. - Favorite Grampy Travels

With Epic Universe open, the resort spans multiple parks with virtual queues, timed portals, three hotel tiers, and an Express Pass system that changes the math on every ticket. Two pieces of research worth knowing:

  • 2023 research from the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) found more than two-thirds of Americans (68%) agree trip planning is more complex than ever, and 50% are more likely to use an advisor than in the past.
  • AAA/Bread Financial (Jan 28, 2026) reported travelers who use an advisor cite getting the best deals (51%), saving time (43%), support if something goes wrong (35%), and help with complex logistics (31%).

What Does It Cost to Have Us Plan Your Universal Trip?

We offer several levels of service depending on how much help you need. Many straightforward multi-day ticket purchases and other simple transactions do not have a planning fee.

For families who want our elevated, hands-on planning experience, fees are based on the complexity of the trip and typically average around $250. This may include personalized hotel recommendations, Epic Universe strategy, Express Pass guidance, dining assistance, and coordinating plans for larger or multigenerational families.

Your exact fee will be discussed during your complimentary 15-minute consultation, so you will know the cost before deciding to move forward. Planning fees are separate from the cost of your trip and are non-refundable. Universal does pay a small commission on select products. However, our recommendations are never based on commission and always based on what we believe is the best fit for your family’s unique travel needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, but the resort is no longer a one-park trip: with Epic Universe there are three theme parks plus a water park, virtual queues, timed portals, and Express Pass prices that change by date. An advisor who has walked all three parks builds the plan, watches the prices, and stays reachable mid-trip.

In a January 2026 AAA and Bread Financial survey, travelers who used an advisor cited getting the best deals (51%) and saving time (43%). Universal is one specialty inside our full travel planning services, and the first 15 minutes are complimentary.

Yes, more than any park in Orlando: it opened in May 2025 with five themed worlds, entry to some lands runs through timed portals, and its Express Pass is a separate purchase with no unlimited option.

The same week can feel completely different depending on the day you pick, which is why we track which days run light on our Universal Orlando crowd calendar. Our advisors have tracked Epic since opening day, so we know which world to start in, when to grab the portal, and whether your trip needs an extra day.

Only three hotels (Loews Royal Pacific, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Portofino Bay) include free Unlimited Express Pass for everyone in the room, and on peak dates those passes can top $300 per person, per day if you buy them outright, so one night at the right hotel can cover two full park days of Express.

Universal Orlando’s hotels span three tiers, the Signature Collection, Prime Value, and Value Inns and Suites, and the right answer depends on your dates and your group. See how the perk works in our free Unlimited Express Passes guide, or run your own dates through the Universal Express Pass Calculator.

Yes. Favorite Grampy Travels books Universal Orlando vacation packages that bundle a Universal hotel with park tickets, including Epic Universe and park-to-park tickets, and as a U-Preferred Platinum agency we book them for families anywhere in the United States.

We compare the package against room-only plus separate tickets for your dates, tell you which hotels include Unlimited Express Pass and Early Park Admission, and watch for promotions after you book so an eligible reservation can be repriced.

Favorite Grampy Travels charges a planning fee that averages around $250 per trip for full custom planning, quoted up front in a complimentary 15-minute consultation; tickets only or a single-service request runs $0 to $200, and many straightforward ticket purchases carry no fee at all.

More than half of U.S. travel agencies now charge planning fees, according to Travel Weekly, so the fee itself is the industry norm; the difference is knowing the exact number before you invest anything. For a first Epic Universe trip, a multi-park visit, or a multi-generational group, the mistakes an advisor prevents usually cost more than the fee. The full breakdown lives on our planning fees page.

Yes, multi-generational Universal trips are our specialty at Favorite Grampy Travels: we pace the days with rest built in, match the hotel to the whole group, sort out who needs Express Pass and who does not, and pick park days using live crowd data.

In the same January 2026 AAA and Bread Financial survey, 31% of travelers who use an advisor named help with complex logistics as a top reason, and nothing is more logistics-heavy than grandparents, parents, and little kids in the same parks. Grandma rides what she wants, the grandkids melt down less, and nobody spends vacation doing math.
