All About Me

Hi! My name is Julie Shar, and I am an unapologetic Harry Potter fanatic. I have multiple copies of the book series, which I reread every summer. Don’t even ask me how many times I’ve seen the movies; I have no way of counting that high. My dogs are named Luna, Sirius and Remus. So, it’s only natural that Universal Orlando with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley is my ultimate travel destination.

I’ll never forget that first glimpse of Hogwarts on my first trip as an adult to Universal Orlando. I am fortunate my husband Chris humors (and encourages) my love of all things Potter. He also has a deep love for the classic Marvel Comics that made Universal Orlando a perfect “compromise” vacation destination a dozen or so years ago. We both soon fell in love with all Universal has to offer: from the comfortable resort hotels to parks filled with fun rides, great food and top-notch entertainment.

Flash forward to today: my husband and I are out of state annual passholders who travel to our home away from home multiple times a year. We celebrated big events like our 50th birthdays (and in my husband’s case, 51 AND 52) along with new jobs and “just because” times at the park. It is definitely our happy place and where we go to relax and reconnect.

After I retired from teaching, I thought about becoming a travel agent when I would come home from one trip and begin “planning just for fun” the next trip. Then, friends, family and acquaintances would frequently ask, “When is the best time to go to Universal?” My answer is unequivocally, “Anytime is a good time to go to Universal!”.

My enthusiasm and love for Universal would intermingle with my teacher persona and I would informally begin asking questions to help identify areas of interest and begin planning their trip. I quickly learned that not only did a really enjoy planning our own trips, I really enjoyed sharing experiential tips and tricks, helping others learn to navigate and enjoy my happy place. For this retired teacher, it came so naturally to want to teach others about the tips, tricks, ins and outs of Universal.

So let me do what I find fun: researching, planning and choosing:

  • The best time of year for you and your family to go based on your interest.
  • The perfect resort hotel for you and your family based on needs and budget.
  • The right tickets and enhancements to ensure you and your family can do it all.
  • The restaurants for family dinners or quick eats throughout the park.
  • And so much more!

Whether you are celebrating a big event or you want to travel to Universal Orlando “just because”, I’d love to use my experience in the parks to navigate the often-difficult choices and take the work out of planning for you. I look forward to working with you every step of the way, from start to finish, assisting you with making all the choices that will lead to the vacation of your dreams.

JULIE’S FAVORITES

Favorite Universal Destination – The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. I am an unapologetic Harry Potter superfan, and love returning “home” to the Wizarding World on each and every visit.

Favorite Universal Restaurant – Confiscos. There is a meaning behind the name
(thieves) and every decorative item inside the restaurant has been “stolen” for another
part of the park. There are some amazing artifacts in there. Not to mention, the food is amazing!

Favorite Universal Attraction – Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure!

Favorite Universal Park – If I could only choose one park to visit, it would be Islands of Adventure. This park has the best rollercoaster/thrill rides. I am also a fan of the theming: Hogsmeade, Marvel Super Hero Island and Dr. Seuss are three of my favorite entertainment.

Favorite Universal Meet & Greet Character – I thoroughly enjoy interacting with the Death Eaters in Diagon Alley during Halloween Horror Nights, but, my favorite character to Meet and Greet is Earl the Squirrel. I absolutely love him.

Favorite Adventure Experience – Climbing Dunn’s River Falls in Jamaica years ago… it
was incredibly beautiful.

Favorite Adult Vacation Spot – New Orleans… the food and the jazz infused nightlife if the
perfect combination for a long weekend for adults.

Favorite Relaxation Destination – I still go to Rehoboth Beach, DE, every summer from Texas! It brings back memories of childhood vacations with my family, driving from Pittsburgh to stay at the Atlantic Sands Hotel right on the boardwalk. Now, I go to Rehoboth annually with lifelong friends (we’ve been traveling together for 25 years), and my brother’s family has a home there too. It’s a place for both nostalgia and new memories. One day I hope to also have a home on a beach somewhere.
